The Journey to One Voice

IMG_3922

One Heart.  Check.  One Love.  Check.  One Voice.  Hmmmmmm…  I’ve really been struggling with how to capture this idea in words.  It’s been quite a journey.

I met Donna Pisani years ago when she reached out to me as someone else that was called to share the love of Jesus with the city of Washington, DC.  We had lunch.  It was awesome.  The end.  As things go in DC, we got busy and years passed.  Donna & I crossed paths again when some of our kids ended up at the same school on Capitol Hill.  Coffee?  You bet.  And then, BAM – the Kingdom exploded for me.  For so long, I had been pretty immersed into the world that encompassed National Community Church and hadn’t even taken a breath to look around.  Donna and I connected and I saw someone that I could learn from and that I could share life with.

Then along came 3 other beautiful girls – Taryn Stine, Jill Whitlow and Heather Giroux – 3 other pastor’s wives.  And we started connecting on a regular basis for coffee.  As our friendships grew, the Kingdom of God became so much larger.  It didn’t matter what style we convey the message in, where we meet on Sunday mornings, or what name is over our church door.  We all were speaking with the same voice – to see the love of Christ saturate every corner of the metropolitan DC area – to the broken-hearted, the sick, the hurting, the lonely, the down and out, the up and out, the rich, the poor, gay, straight, up, down, left, right… you get the point.  If you’re breathing, Jesus has a message for you – He LOVES you and has a plan for your life!  And this is our voice. One voice!

XOXO,

Lora

What would happen if our actions spoke LOUDER than words?  If we had one voice?

  1. I love what God is doing with your relationships and with our churches. So exciting to be #onmission together to reach the DC Area. Praying for all of our churches this weekend, that Easter will be a massive explosion of God’s love on our city.

  2. What would happen if our actions spoke louder than our words? Can you imagine, it would truly be love in action in DC and the surrounding area! Those that come to church this Easter and to the upcoming Beautiful You Conference will be touched and transformed by love! (#BETHELOVE)

  3. Have totally loved this journey with you, Lora, every time we are together I leave richer and fuller..and am so grateful that our worlds collided, such a sweet gift from God.
And then to see the gift grow larger when we all started meeting for coffee…Taryn, Heather and Jill….who would have thought that coffee once in a while could develop into such treasured friendships and a single heart, love and voice….

One thing we all know is it’s WAY MORE FUN together.

My prayer is that every girl reading this blog (and coming to conference) will experience rich friendships that enlarge and enrich your lives…

    Love you Lora!

  4. Last night I joined with women from DC Metro church – our sister church in this Beautiful You movement – to pray over a friend who lost a loved one. In that circle of prayer, we were ONE VOICE speaking out against suffering and pain and speaking victory and healing into this situation. God’s presence was palpable in that room last night and I believe it was from the joining of our hearts and voices in prayer AND in praise (even in the midst of her sorrow). Together we are unstoppable! Satan you better run!

  5. “If you’re breathing, Jesus has a message for you – He LOVES you and has a plan for your life!” – AMEN!

Not that we’re wives of pastors, but three of my CapCity friends and I are using your friendship as an example to get together monthly outside of Church and Church meetings to develop/strengthen our relationships like the ones you have formed with one another. We’re so excited to see how God will move in our lives (and in the lives of others) as it clearly has with you five AMAZING women!
