The idea of “One Love” for me is all about keeping Jesus at the absolute
center of my life. It is only then that I am able to succeed in truly loving the people
God has placed in my life! Whether it’s my husband, children, friends, or the person
I meet at Whole Foods, He enables me to love selflessly and without motive or
condition because that is how He loves me!! I think of it like this: you can’t give
away what you don’t already have. And it has to be fresh because it can’t be conjured or
contrived – not that kind of love anyway!
I love fashion, so I think of it like this: sometimes we treat our love
relationship with Jesus like it’s an accessory. He is something that compliments
who we are instead of defining who we are and therefore how we love…I would
challenge all of us to make Him the whole outfit! Without Him you aren’t dressed!!
Yikes!! OK, you get the point!
Jesus didn’t die on the cross to be an accessory to my life, but to consume all
of me and then allow my life and His love to spill out to the world around me…it’s
His love working in and through me! That’s “One Love”.
Are you treating Jesus’ love as an accessory, rather than your whole “outfit”? Are there people who you could do better at loving as God loves us?
