Living Convinced

I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

Romans 8:39

How amazing to be absolutely convinced of the love of God!  As I read this passage, I was struck by the question, “what does it take to be absolutely convinced?”

You can’t live with purpose if you don’t live with conviction.  Which means, you can’t get results if you don’t live  convinced.

So what is it that fuels our convictions? What persuades us? What is that you and I need to KNOW to live convinced?

First, you must know your VALUE!

God created you in His own image.  Has spared no expense for you.  In fact, He gave his one and only son for you.  He calls you valuable. Stop looking for others to make you feel valuable, but start looking at the cross. When God picks you, he gives you what you need.

 “So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture..” 

Romans 8:31-39

Just because you’re not visible doesn’t mean you’re not valuable.  David was anointed to be the King of Israel and then returned back to the fields to care for his father’s sheep.  His location didn’t change his calling or his value.

Second, you must know that the wait does not decrease VALUE!

Just because you have not seen the promises you are believing for come to pass does not mean that they are not coming.  

“That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting.  We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us.  But the longer we wait, the larger we become and the more joyful our expectancy” Romans 8:24,25

It is usually the thing that is produced in the hidden place that produces the result everyone wants.  Often times it is in those seasons of waiting that God is making ROOM for blessing and RESULTS in your life.  Sometimes we think we need everything to change to see something new, but God wants to give you new perspective now.  Stop waiting for a better assignment.  David was anointed to be king but still was with the sheep poopAre you living persuaded and convinced even though you are still with the sheep poop, or are you waiting to be convinced when you live in the palace.  Have faith! God responds to faith.

Third, you must know the way He embraces!

It is God’s desire that we experience him daily.  He’s not a distant God.  He is a God who sees. 

Jesus answered, “One day, long before Philip called you here, I saw you under the fig tree.  Nathaniel exclaimed, “Rabbi! You are the Son of God, the King of Israel!”  “You’ve become a believer simply because I say I saw you one day sitting under the fig tree? You haven’t seen anything yet! Before this is over you’re going to see heaven open and God’s angels descending to the Son of Man and ascending again.”

John 1:48-51

God cares about what you are going through.  He sees you. He sees your heart and like it says above in Romans 8 nothing can separate you from His love.
