Brave Stories: “Doubt Arises With Risk Because Next Steps are Unknown”
Leading up to BYC2015 (YAY!), we’ll be featuring stories of bravery from the gorgeous models that grace the Beautiful You Conference website. If you recognize any of these women, we aren’t surprised. They live in our communities, serve at our churches, and they always rock the prettiest nail polish colors.

Beautiful You Movement (BYM): Can you tell us about a time in your life that you had to be brave?
Jasmin Bagalso (JB): Leaving everything that I knew and was comfortable with in California to follow a passion. This passion that was burning in me led me to D.C. Knowing that I had to uproot my entire life to a place that was completely unknown and foreign. I had to be brave and follow this desire to move 3,000 miles across the country (not knowing anyone, not knowing the city, and not having a job. I knew if I didn’t pursue this passion I would be living with the question, “what if?”.
BYM: Can you describe what you were feeling during that time?
JB: At the time I was unsure if it was the the right timing to take the risk. In taking any risk, doubt arises because the next steps are always unknown. The unknown brings uncertainty. Doing something big alone for the first time can be tough. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to leave everything behind and start a new life for myself.
BYM: How have you seen your act of bravery affect those around you?
JB: I hope I’ve been able to inspire others to follow their dreams despite the hardship that may come with it, in the end the little pain is worth it.
BYM: How has your relationship with Jesus changed since you made the decision to be brave (in that particular situation)?
JB: I’ve learned to trust Him with everything, even if I don’t see the purpose at first. This verse has helped along the way…
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I give Egypt as your ransom,
Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
4 Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you,
peoples in exchange for your life.” –Isaiah 43: 1 – 4 (ESV)
Jasmin is an energetic, friendly individual who people say laughs like Julia Roberts. While she likes being spontaneous with people she loves, she also enjoys the calm of laying on the beach, listening to the waves. Jasmin likes maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but she can’t say no to pizza. She attends Triumph DC church.
““It is so amazing to be in the presence of hundreds other women worshiping God and really taking the time to invest in myself. BYC is an event not too be missed!”” —Courtney
